Aerial device details

There are several types of powered aerial devices used to reach tall buildings or to provide an elevated platform for delivering water. The most common type is the aerial ladder. Many aerial devices include a platform at the end. Some aerial ladders have a pre-piped water way and a remote nozzle. Because of the weight of the aerial and the effect it has on the vehicles center of gravity when extended the vehicles have 2 or more outriggers to keep the vehicle from tipping over. These are usually hydraulically operated. The aerial device is generally operated from a control panel on the turn table or a hand held controller connected to the truck with a cable.
